Solar that works for everyone.

About a third of New Zealand households are rentals, which means a huge portion of the country is effectively locked out of the benefits of rooftop solar. As power prices continue to rise, tenants are often left with fewer tools to manage their costs or tap into renewable energy.

The goal of Tenant Power is to find a practical way to get solar onto rental properties by balancing the needs of everyone involved. Making sure the numbers work for landlords to invest in the tech, while ensuring tenants see a drop in their power bills. It's a win-win for everyone involved.

How it works:

1: The landlord invests in a solar system for the rental property, or has an existing solar system.

2: The tenant pays for access to solar energy, at cheaper rates than the grid, enabling them to access lower cost energy.

3: The landlord receives payments from the tenant. This payment is based on a volume price i.e. an agreed cents/kWh for self-consumed solar (which is cheaper than their grid electricity price). The payments are calculated such that the tenant gets a net saving on their electricity bills, while the landlord receives a fair return on investment.
