Shift to Win – Prize Draw Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions (“Terms”) apply to the Shift to Win prize draw (the “Promotion”) run by Octopus Energy New Zealand Limited (“Octopus Energy”, “we”, “us” or “our”), in partnership with Orion New Zealand Limited (“Orion”).

By participating in the Promotion, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Eligibility

1.1 The Promotion is open to current residential customers of Octopus Energy who:

1.2 Employees of Octopus Energy or Orion and their immediate families are not eligible to win a prize, but may still participate in the events.

1.3 Entrants must be 18 years of age or older and reside in New Zealand.

2. How to Enter

2.1 Eligible customers will be notified via email of a Shift to Win event in advance (typically the night before or the morning of the event). The Shift to Win promotion runs from 12th May 2025 and ends on 30th September 2025.

2.2 Customers who successfully shift their electricity usage (i.e. reduce consumption or net export generation) compared to their historical usage during the Shift to Win event will automatically be entered into the prize draw for that event.

2.3 There is no obligation to participate in any or all events – each event is optional, and each successful participation counts as one entry into that event’s draw.

3. How Winners Are Selected

3.1 Within 7 days after each Shift to Win event, five (5) winners will be randomly selected from all eligible entries who successfully shifted their usage or net export generation during the event period.

3.2 Each winner will receive $50 (incl. GST) credit applied to their Octopus Energy account.

3.3 Winners will be notified by email within 7 business days of the relevant Shift to Win event.

4. Measurement of Shift

4.1 Electricity usage or export shift will be determined by comparing your smart meter data during the Shift to Win event against your historical average usage/export during the same time of day (excluding previous Shift to Win sessions).

4.2 For weekday events, we use data from the last 10 weekdays (excluding previous Shift to Win sessions). For weekend events, data from the last 4 weekend days is used.

4.3 A shift is defined as a measurable decrease of at least 0.1 kWh in electricity consumption and/or net export of at least 0.1 kWh in generation during the event window, relative to your baseline.

5. General

5.1 Power credits are not transferable, exchangeable, or redeemable for cash.

5.2 Octopus Energy and Orion accept no responsibility for any technical or human error that may occur in the administration of the Promotion.

5.3 Any personal information collected as part of the Promotion will be processed in accordance with Octopus Energy’s Privacy Policy.

5.4 The Promotion is governed by the laws of New Zealand.
