Octopus Free Lunch Competition Terms and Conditions

1. Promoter

The promoter of this competition is Octopus Energy NZ Limited (“Octopus Energy”).

2. Eligibility

• The competition is open to New Zealand residents aged 18 years or older.

• Employees of Octopus Energy NZ and their immediate families are not eligible to enter.

• Entrants must have a valid social media account (Facebook or Instagram) and be following Octopus Energy NZ on the platform they are entering on.

3. Competition Period

• The competition opens on [19/10/2026] at [12pm] and closes on [9/11/2026] at [12pm] (the “Competition Period”).

• Entries received outside of this period will not be considered.

4. How to Enter

• To enter, participants must:

  1. Comment on the competition post on either Facebook or Instagram stating what they would do with 3 free hours of power a day.

  2. Be following Octopus Energy NZ on the social media platform they are entering the competition on.

• Limit of one entry per person.

• Entries must not contain content that is offensive, defamatory, illegal, or infringes on the rights of third parties. Octopus Energy reserves the right to disqualify any entry at its discretion.

5. Selection of the Winner

• At the end of the Competition Period, a panel from Octopus Energy will select one (1) winner based on creativity, humour, and relevance to the "Free Lunch" theme. Only one overall winner from all comments across Instagram and Facebook.

• Finalists will be notified via direct message on the platform they used to enter. If a finalist does not respond within 48 hours, Octopus Energy reserves the right to select a replacement finalist.

6. The Prize

• The prize is 12 months of free power from Octopus Energy NZ, capped at a maximum value of NZD $3,000 excluding GST.

• The prize is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.

• If the winner is not an existing Octopus Energy customer, they must sign up for an Octopus Energy residential plan to redeem the prize.

• The winner must reside in a residential property that Octopus Energy is able to provide electricity to.

• The prize will be applied as a credit to the winner's account. If the winner’s power usage for the 12-month period is less than the $3,000 cap, the remaining credit will be forfeited. If usage exceeds $3,000, the winner is responsible for the balance.

8. Intellectual Property & Privacy

• By entering, you grant Octopus Energy a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, reproduce, modify, and display your entry comment in our marketing materials, including but not limited to social media, websites, and emails.

• Personal information collected will be used only for the purpose of administering this competition and in accordance with Octopus Energy's Privacy Policy.

9. General

• This competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Facebook or Instagram. Entrants release these platforms from all liability related to the competition.

• Octopus Energy reserves the right to amend, suspend, or cancel the competition at any time if required by circumstances beyond its control.
