Intelligent Octopus Battery Trial Terms and Conditions

  1. By signing up to the Intelligent Octopus (IO) for Battery Trial you agree to these terms in addition to the Octopus general terms & conditions and privacy policy.

  2. IO for Battery is a trial service. Your rates will not change but initially for participating in this trial we will give you an account credit of $10 per complete month that your battery is integrated and capable of being controlled by us. We reserve the right to change the value of or remove this account credit.

  3. This is a beta trial. This means some things may not work the first time or may break and that on occasion wifi or communication issues can prevent things working at all. By agreeing to participate in this trial you accept that there is a risk of us not being able to optimise your battery, or that usage takes place at suboptimal times.

  4. If you notice any issues with your battery please contact us immediately. In this event, Octopus will take reasonable steps to seek to resolve the problem as quickly as possible. You will always be able to stop participating in the trial.

  5. Octopus will gather data about your usage, technology characteristics (e.g. model, size, power consumption), operating preferences, any actions you take and how your battery performs. We will use this information to help us refine our service offering and we may also share this information as part of aggregated anonymised insights.

  6. Once Intelligent Octopus starts controlling your Energizer Home battery app, you will no longer be able to manually control it. You can request for control of your battery to be returned to you at any point during the trial.

  7. If you would like to pause the control please email us at, or call 0800 947 867, with your account number and we will issue a ‘pause’ on the control. This will typically take up to one business day.

  8. If you would like to permanently stop the control, email or call us with your account details and we will pause the control within one business day. Once paused, it will take up to 2 business days for our access to be removed permanently. 

  9. Octopus accepts no liability for wear of your battery. Our liability to you shall be as set out in our General Terms and Conditions.

  10. We may also wish to stop providing the trial service, and may terminate use of it at any time. We will tell you as soon as practical if we intend to stop the trial service.
